On Thursday 18 June, Mondadori Store, Italy’s largest network of bookshops, will open in Bari. A new venue dedicated to books and entertainment. The event is expected to be attended by the President of the Apulia Region, Antonio Decaro, the city Mayor, Vito Leccese, as well as the Regional Councillor for Culture and the Regional Councillor for Local Development.

Covering approximately 70 square metres and featuring a modern layout, the new Mondadori Bookstore has been designed to meet the needs of readers of all ages, with the aim of promoting culture and encouraging reading. Customers visiting the store at Via Gaetano Salvemini 62 will be welcomed by a team of passionate booksellers and a catalogue of 6,000 titles, ranging from literary classics to bestsellers, including fiction, non-fiction and general-interest books.

“Opening a bookshop is, above all, an act of love for the community, and with this new opening we want to give the neighbourhood a space for reflection, discovery and connection,” said Marco Amoruso, a Mondadori Store franchisee. “We firmly believe that bookshops are the lungs of a city: vibrant places where the stories on the shelves meet the people in the streets,” he added.

The historic Mosca Bookshop in Patti (Messina) is celebrating 50 years of business and has joined the Mondadori Store network following a complete renovation.

New spaces, same values. For three generations, the bookshop has been a landmark for local readers and book lovers. It now welcomes customers into a more modern and inviting environment, designed to appeal to the widest possible audience.

From tomorrow, Mondadori Store, Italy’s largest network of bookshops, will be present in the centre of Finale Ligure (Savona) too, with a new space dedicated to books and entertainment.

With this opening, managed under a franchise model, the already extensive network of Mondadori Store locations in Liguria continues to expand, in line with the brand’s strategy of promoting reading and cultural access through local socio-cultural hubs.

The Mondadori Duomo bookstore is once again set to become a must-visit destination for fans of anime and Japanese pop culture: from 26 May to 8 June,the famous bookstore in the heart of Piazza Duomo will host a pop-up store dedicated to one of the most beloved anime series of all time, ONE PIECE, the global phenomenon created by Eiichiro Oda which, for almost thirty years, has continued to captivate millions of fans worldwide through anime, manga, films and merchandise.

The magic of reading comes to Teatro Ciak in Rome with a new Mondadori Store bookshop, which will be inaugurated on Friday 8 May.

An area dedicated to books and entertainment will be created next to the 400-seat theatre on Via Cassia, enhancing the audience experience at one of the most important cultural centres in Municipio 15, through the support of the largest network of bookshops in Italy.

With a floor area of 120 square metres and a modern layout, the new Mondadori Bookstore at Teatro Ciak was designed to meet the needs of a diverse range of customers. Teatro Ciak: the history

Teatro Ciak is a 400-seat venue that opened in November 2018. The goal of the restoration project was to preserve a venue for variety shows that first opened in the 1950s as Teatro Cassio, and then later became Cinema Ciak, a historic cinema in the Cassia district that was open until 2016.

After the cinema closed, the space was revitalised as a venue dedicated to culture, art and entertainment in the Via Cassia area of Rome, a neighbourhood rich in historical and artistic heritage but which lacked proper spaces for the cultural life of residents.

The Teatro Ciak stage has hosted numerous prestigious companies and artists such as Gabriele Lavia, Mariano Rigillo, Glauco Mauri, Roberto Sturno, Milena Vukotic, Cicci Rossini, Paola Gassman, Anna Galiena, Caterina Murino, Debora Caprioglio, Maurizio Micheli, Antonello Fassari, Giuseppe Pambieri, Paola Quattrini, Erica Blanc and many others.

Since 2022, the artistic director of the theatre has been Maestro Mariano Rigillo, ‘an extraordinarily great actor who has created sophisticated programmes that celebrate “teatro di parola”, new drama, young talent and leading contemporary actors and playwrights’ (2023 Enriquez Award for Artistic Direction of Teatro Ciak).

Today, Teatro Ciak is a leading cultural venue in the city, offering not only evening performances, but also matinees for schools, a literary café, educational activities, seminars and readings.

Amid this backdrop, a partnership with the historical Teatro Stabile del Giallo theatre company was formed. For twenty years, the company has been a key cultural institution in the area and, since 2018, has staged its productions at Teatro Ciak. Performances such as ‘12 Angry Men’, ‘A Perfect Murder’, ‘The Spiral Staircase’, ‘Sherlock Holmes’, ‘Rope’, ‘And Then There Were None’, ‘The Visitor’ and ‘The Mousetrap’ have been met with extraordinary acclaim from both audiences and critics over the years.

This collaboration also led to the creation of Accademia del Teatro Ciak, which has around 120 members who offer acting and performing arts workshops for all age groups.

Mondadori Store, the largest network of bookshops in Italy, will open a new cultural hub on 2 May at the Perla dello Stretto Shopping Centre in Villa San Giovanni (Reggio Calabria), serving the local community and book lovers alike.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, taking place at 5.00 pm, will be attended by Mayor Giusy Caminiti and the President of the City Council with responsibility for Culture, Caterina Trecroci.

The new Mondadori Bookstore spans 110 square metres and features a modern layout with areas dedicated to different literary genres. Visitors will be welcomed by an experienced team of booksellers and a curated catalogue of around 8,000 titles, ranging from great classics to bestsellers, including fiction, non-fiction, international works and educational titles. The space is also devoted to local publishing.

“The opening of the Mondadori Bookstore in Villa San Giovanni, a historic town overlooking the Strait of Messina, stems from our desire to create a new cultural hub in a place that has been entirely without one and has long been eager for it,” explains Chiara Crispino, a Mondadori Store franchisee who, as Managing Director of Caium Srl, oversees a further 11 bookshops across Abruzzo, Calabria, Campania, Marche, Molise and Puglia. “Our aim is to create a vibrant, welcoming meeting place, as well as somewhere people can truly experience culture,” Crispino concludes.

The Villa San Giovanni store offers all the latest releases, with themed areas designed to cater to every reader’s interests, including We are Junior, , a space for younger readers featuring educational games and illustrated books to spark their imagination; Just Comics, dedicated to the world of manga and graphic novels; and My New Romance, a new concept  aimed at fans of romance fiction, one of today’s most popular literary genres.The store also stocks a wide selection of stationery, toys, gifts and gift cards.

The Mondadori Bookstore in Villa San Giovanni also serves readers online: customers can stay up to date via its  Instagram and Facebookpages. In addition, they can use the digital services available on  Mondadoristore.it  to check book availability. Telephone ordering is also available. Among the services offered is Zeercle, which allows customers to sell their books, as well as CDs, vinyl records, physical video games, DVDs and Blu-ray discs, in exchange for a gift card reflecting the assessed value of the items, redeemable in Mondadori bookshops and on mondadoristore.it
