Mondadori Retail presents the new e-commerce site Mondadoristore.it. The platform, featuring a refreshed design, improved performance, and a significantly enhanced user experience, marks an important step in the digital innovation and development strategy of the Mondadori Group company, which manages the largest bookstore network in Italy.

The new technological platform adopted by Mondadori Retail, powered by SAP Commerce and developed in collaboration with Accenture, offers customers a seamless shopping experience with personalized services.

“With our new website, we are bringing book lovers a completely new digital experience: simple, intuitive, and fast,” says Carmine Perna, CEO of Mondadori Retail. “It has been 25 years since Mondadoristore.it was created, and day after day we continue to advance our omnichannel vision, one that places readers and their relationship with bookstores at the centre, seamlessly integrating the physical and digital worlds to serve an ever-wider and more informed audience. “In this way, Mondadori Retail reinforces its commitment to making culture more accessible and to highlighting the value of bookstores, establishing itself as a point of reference in the digital space as well. Our ecosystem combines innovation with proximity, technology with human connection. A project made possible thanks to the collaboration with outstanding partners and the excellent work of the Mondadori Group’s Retail and IT teams,” Perna adds.

In the coming months, Mondadori Retail’s omnichannel development strategy will continue, with the primary goal of further strengthening the integration between the online shopping experience at Mondadoristore.it and the offering of its extensive network of physical bookstores.

What’s New

The new Mondadoristore.it website has been completely redesigned with a mobile-first approach, featuring an innovative, user-friendly design that ensures smooth navigation, faster loading times, and optimized content across all devices. A clear, accessible interface allows users to explore the catalog quickly and with ease.

The entire purchasing process can now be completed in just a few clicks: from fast social login, to choosing a preferred bookshop as a collection point, to tracking a delivery, all in a few simple steps. Thanks to the integration between e-commerce and the physical bookshop network, customers can select a book, pay online and collect their order at any of the 500+ Mondadori Store locations.

The site also introduces a revamped events hub, making it easy to explore the calendar of presentations, author meetings and book signings organised throughout Italy. Users can filter events by author, title or bookshop, keeping up to date with cultural events nearby or following their favourite writers.

With the new wishlist feature, users can create and share virtual libraries, both for themselves and to inspire friends and family, helping to fuel the passion for reading in a more social and participatory way.

Partners

The creation of the new Mondadoristore.it was made possible thanks to the collaboration with SAP, the technology partner providing the SAP Commerce Cloud platform, and Accenture, which acted as system integrator and managed the technical implementation of Mondadori Retail’s new e-commerce system.

“Every customer interaction is an opportunity to build loyalty and drive growth. Companies that prioritise customer experience stand out through seamless, high-quality interactions that foster lasting connections,” commented Carla Masperi, CEO of SAP Italy. Mondadori Store: three new bookstores in Rome

Following a complete restyling, the bookstore on Via Tuscolana, the cultural heart of the neighbourhood, is back, celebrating 30 years in business

A new shop has opened in Le Terrazze shopping centre

The bookstore in the Roma Est shopping centre has been refurbished

Mondadori Store, the largest network of bookstores in Italy, has strengthened its presence in Rome with three new shops that further enhance what Italy’s capital has to offer, in line with the network’s strategy of facilitating the spread of culture and promoting reading.

The historic bookstore in Via Tuscolana, which opens tomorrow, Thursday 3 July, is joined by the opening of the Mondadori Bookstore in the Le Terrazze shopping centre in the Casal Palocco district and today’s inauguration, following a complete renovation, of the shop in the RomaEst shopping centre.

“After last autumn’s opening of the Bookstore in Galleria Alberto Sordi, the development of the Mondadori Store bookstore network in the city of Rome is continuing both through directly managed shops and franchisees,” commented Carmine Perna, Managing Director of Mondadori Retail. “Thanks to these new initiatives in the capital, we are pursuing our strategy of making culture increasingly accessible, also by renovating our spaces to offer a modern and engaging experience to an ever-growing number of reading and entertainment enthusiasts,” Perna concludes.

Mondadori Bookstore on Via Tuscolana
One of the shops enriching the city’s cultural offer is the historic bookstore on Via Tuscolana, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. The inauguration, which will take place on Thursday 3 July at 6 p.m., will be attended, together with Carmine Perna, by the Councillor for Culture of the Municipality of Rome, Massimiliano Smeriglio, the President of Municipio VII, Francesco Laddaga, and the President of Municipio VII’s VI Commission, Emiliano Cofano.

The refurbished Mondadori Bookstore covers an area of 300 square metres with a catalogue of more than 20,000 titles and a layout that will offer bookshop customers modern, tailored spaces for all reading enthusiasts.

“Over the course of its 30 years in business, the Bookstore on Via Tuscolana has become not only a neighbourhood bookstore, but also a place for meeting, cultural exchange and discovery, a meeting point that has accompanied generations of readers and enthusiasts, contributing to making the neighbourhood a vibrant place,” remarks Mondadori Store franchisee Luca Russillo. “Our bookstore, where we have hosted great writers, has over time become one of the main reference points for book events in Rome,” Russillo concludes.

The same franchisee recently opened a new Mondadori Bookstore in the Le Terrazze shopping centre: the bookstore is a novelty for the Casal Palocco district in Rome, offering more than 10,000 titles in its 150 square metre space.

Mondadori Bookstore in the RomaEst shopping centre
Mondadori Store’s presence in Rome has also been renewed with today’s reopening of the bookstore in the RomaEst shopping centre. The spaces of the directly managed shop, which is easily accessible by public transport and located close to the A24 motorway exit, will house in its 300 square metres up to 15,000 different titles and more than 2,500 stationery items, toys, gadgets and gift boxes, offering the capital a renewed cultural reference point. Since 2007, the booksellers at the Mondadori Bookstore in RomaEst have been working enthusiastically and professionally to introduce the public to new publications, strengthening a relationship of trust with readers day after day.

Services provided by the three bookstores
The three Mondadori Bookstores offer a catalogue rangingfrom the great classics to bestsellers, including fiction, non-fiction and international books. Special attention is paid to younger readers with the We are Junior format, which includes educational games and picture books to stimulate their imagination with the most intriguing stories, and the Just Comics department dedicated to manga and comics. The bookstore also offers dedicated #BookTok areas for the new generation of readers, as well as stationery, toys, gadgets and gift boxes.

Mondadori Store shops also serve readers online: customers can be updated via the Instagram and Facebook social media pages. They will also be able to get in touch with the bookstore through the Mondadoristore.it digital services to check a book’s availability, order it, pick it up in store or have it sent to their home, choosing from a catalogue of over 1 million titles. Mondadori Store: a new service in bookshops to give value to used books in partnership with the start-up Zeercle

Mondadori Store, the largest network of bookshops in Italy, offers all reading lovers the opportunity to give their books a new lease of life thanks to an exclusive partnership with the start-up Zeercle, one of the leading providers of book buy-back services in Europe.

Starting today, in the more than 300 Mondadori Bookstores participating in the service, it will be possible to exchange your used books – from fiction to non-fiction, children’s books and great classics for a gift card corresponding to the value given to the book, which can be used in Mondadori Store bookstores and on the Mondadoristore.it

“Thanks to the partnership with Zeercle, our network of bookshops is opening up for the first time to the used book market, a fast-growing sector in which we are bringing, exclusively for Italy, an innovative business model that promotes the circular economy,” stressed Francesco Riganti, Marketing Director at Mondadori Retail. “The service – which is consistent with Mondadori Store’s mission to spread culture and entertainment to an increasingly wide audience – has omnichannel as its cornerstone: the experience starts in people’s homes with their own used books and continues with digital, which accompanies readers into our bookshops,” Riganti concludes.

“For our launch in Italy, it seemed natural for us to collaborate with a leading chain like Mondadori Store. It is an extraordinary opportunity to have access to a network of bookshops covering the entire country. We are very confident that we will experience the same success that we have already achieved in Germany, France and Austria,” commented Eric Gagnaire, founder and CEO of Zeercle.

With this initiative, Mondadori Store is further expanding the services available to its customers and once again emphasising its desire to support readers by responding to their needs in a concrete and innovative way. This commitment translates into broadening the shopping experience and building an ecosystem of accessible and integrated services.

The service that Mondadori Store offers in partnership with Zeercle is very simple: anyone wishing to sell their used books – excluding school books – can enter the dedicated website and scan the book’s barcode, or enter its ISBN code, to immediately evaluate the title.
Once you have created your shopping cart, simply take your books to one of the Mondadori Bookstores participating in Zeercle’s service, give the code to the bookstore staff who, after checking the status of the volumes, will provide the customer with a gift card that can be spent in participating Mondadori bookstores (here is the list of Mondadori Bookstores participating in the service).

Mondadori Store is the largest network of bookstores in Italy, with more than 500 stores spread from large cities to smaller centres. A cultural stronghold active throughout the country, online with the Mondadoristore.it e-commerce site and the book club formula, through an offering that combines books – always at the centre of the offer – with entertainment experiences, events and multi-channel services, reaching more than 20 million customers every year.

Zeercle is an innovative circular economy service dedicated to books. Through a simple, digital platform, Zeercle allows readers to sell their used books directly in partner bookshops, immediately receiving a voucher to use on the spot. The service, which is already successfully operating in Germany, France and Austria, aims to restore value to books, support physical bookshops and promote more sustainable consumption. Zeercle cooperates with large chains and independent bookshops to build a European second-hand book network.
