An editorial workshop for creation of original audio formats and projection of new voices

Mondadori Studios is a new space for the creation and production of original audio content: from spin-offs and discussion of what goes on behind the scenes in the creation of successful books to great works of historic and scientific education, from narrative invention to political analysis.

The Wizard of the Kremlin. Instructions for use, Dear Sveva. Time and Love, The Great Storm and Crime and Punishment in the age of Putin. Russia seen through four criminals were the first four podcasts created by Mondadori Studios in connection with four new publications that came out in 2022. The projects reflect a part of Mondadori Studios’ vocation: great authors, formidable stories, investigation of current affairs and a look at what goes on behind the scenes in the preparation of a great book.

Mondadori Studios

A specific scouting process, editorial work, writing, production and communication allow Mondadori Studios to lay an innovative path in the vast and prolific world of podcasts, experimenting with both stories and authors.

The projects completed in 2022 were flanked in February 2023 by: Elements, Digital Wars and Under the nails, the first original podcasts by Mondadori Studios, focusing on science, geopolitics, philosophy and true stories, through competent new voices with meticulous authorial handling.

Our original podcasts

Elements

based on an idea by Mariasole Bianco
with Mariasole Bianco, Mia Canestrini, Serena Giacomin, Valeria Margherita Mosca, Chiara Sgarbi

Elements is a podcast celebrating nature and its elements through the stories of extraordinary women who work in science and education. Four episodes, like the four natural elements, plus one, to ignite a spark that becomes a flame of hope, because it’s true that the acts of an individual person may seem like a drop in the ocean; but it’s also true that every little drop counts.

Digital Wars

with Mariarosaria Taddeo

There’s a direct link between the values and rights characterising a society and the way these rules address war; in digital wars, these rules and values remain to be clarified. Mariarosaria Taddeo attempts to understand what digital wars are, which are their most problematic aspects from an ethical point of view, and how digital technology can be used to support international stability and open, tolerant, just, pluralistic and democratic societies.

Under the nails

by Giulia Muscatelli
with Patience Manzumba Nyapasa

Patience Manzumba Nyapasa is a young Congolese woman who arrived in Italy to take her vows and become a nun. But her life does not go as she planned. First the convent fails her and then she meets a man who breaks into her house one morning and tries to kill her.

Under the nails is a podcast that addresses two forms of discrimination, shoving you into a corner, opening your eyes wide and forcing you to look at all the little forms of violence that certain people are forced to suffer every day. Then it explains how violence is collective, cultural, and systemic, and what it has to do with racism.
