In the historic centre of Turin, in Piazza Castello 117, we have opened a new Mondadori Bookstore.

The bookshop will be a cultural meeting point for the whole city, dedicated to book lovers. You will find more than 20,000 titles, from bestsellers to classics, including fiction, non-fiction and miscellany, as well as a selection of comics in the ‘Just Comics’ area: from manga to superheroes and graphic novels. The ‘We are Junior’ area is dedicated to younger readers, with educational games and picture books to stimulate their imagination.

There will be also a lot of events in our bookshop in Piazza Castello: @aaron.cenere and @erindoom_official will kick off the busy calendar with meet & greets on the 6th and 13th of June respectively.

Communicate the new plans for the future and thanking, after the excellent results of 2022, those who are contributing to the renewal and growth of our network of bookshops. With this in mind, Carmine Perna, managing director of Mondadori Retail, addressed all the people who work for the company, both in the head office and in the bookshops scattered throughout Italy. Perna commented on the excellent results achieved in 2022 and reiterated the important role of our bookstores as a cultural stronghold in the territory, thanks to a rich editorial offer, many events and the strong expertise of our booksellers. The forecasts for 2023 are also positive. We will continue to invest in every area with the aim of offering customers an increasingly omnichannel, integrated and recognisable experience, based on a rich and up-to-date publishing offer. A very positive picture for which Carmine Perna sincerely thanked each person involved, also on behalf of our entire Group. #NoiDellaMondadori #MondadoriRetail #Library #Retail

Palazzo Mondadori, our head office, is located near Milan, in Segrate: the building, designed by Oscar Niemeyer, is surrounded by a large park designed by landscape architect Pietro Porcinai, made even more evocative by a twenty thousand square metre artificial lake. There are numerous animal species that in the different seasons pass through our lawns, take refuge in the hedges of the green area, or stop by our pond. Many of us, caught up in our daily commitments, do not always notice their presence. Yet they are there, and we have photographed them. Therefore, on the occasion of Earth Day, we would like to show you some of these living creatures that ‘inhabit’ our park. Because a greater awareness of the nature around us is essential for improving the environment in which we live. 1. Grey heron 2. Grey heron 3. Carp 4. Wild rabbit 5. Cormorant 6. Mallard 7. Three years have passed since that March of 2020, the moment when our lives were turned upside down by the spread of a virus. A real threat that forced us to change our lifestyles and habits, starting with the way we work. Since the beginning of the pandemic, our Group has been committed to protecting the health of its people by extensively introducing remote working, equipping everyone with company computers and telephones, and establishing a direct and constant flow of communication. In addition to direct mail and news on the intranet, we also added the Digital Assistant, the interactive chatbot we created, which in three years answered more than 3,100 questions on Covid-19, smart working and corporate welfare. Thanks to this experience, we now work in a new, hybrid way, combining flexibility, productivity and quality of personal life. A model based on empowering people and enhancing skills and working by objectives.
Let’s talk numbers. We distributed more than one million masks and over 17,000 hand sanitisers in offices and bookshops. We performed 43,286 examinations, including antigenic, molecular, and serological tests, and also offered the administration of more than 3 thousand influenza and antipneumococcal vaccines. Last but not least, we provided a psychological support service. All this was possible thanks to our doctors and nurses, who faced the risks of contagion first-hand, and to the Crisis Committee: a transversal coordination group set up at the start of the emergency and which met over 100 times to monitor the progress of the pandemic, deciding on the action to be taken in good time. Given its effectiveness, this experience of confrontation and sharing will continue to exist in the future as the Health and Safety Committee, an important organisational legacy that will remain to oversee all #WeWork. #pandemic #smartworking

This morning among the runners of the #MilanoMarathon was also a group of our colleagues. In fact, we ran almost 170 km in solidarity by participating in the Relay Marathon, the non-competitive relay race for charity organized as part of the footrace. As many as four teams registered representing the Mondadori Group, each composed of four runners who, alternating, ran the 42.195 km of the marathon through the streets of the city. The relay is the heart of the Milano Marathon Charity Program, the fundraising project that allows all participants to run for a nonprofit organization of their choice, helping to raise funds to be allocated to the solidarity projects of the approximately 100 participating associations. We have chosen to support @liltnazionale, the Italian League for the Fight against Cancer, in particular the “Visits Suspended” initiative that targets people in economic and social hardship to help them get regular cancer prevention checkups. Anyone can support LILT’s program: just participate in fundraising on Rete del Dono: www.retedeldono.it. Donations are anonymous and you can contribute any amount. #WeOfMondadori #RelayMarathon #RunForLilt #MondadoriSustainability

The new @mondadoriduomo bookstore opens tomorrow in Milan, a space dedicated to all book lovers. With a completely new concept, Mondadori Duomo will offer more than 100,000 books, over 5,000 manga and comics, 8,000 stories for children and young people, themed and experiential areas and a central arena for events. To inaugurate our new bookshop in the heart of Milan, we organised today a round table entitled ‘Reader-friendly bookshops. Places of culture and encounter’, which saw a dialogue between Carmine Perna, managing director of Mondadori Retail, with Ricardo Franco Levi (president of AIE), Paolo Ambrosini (president of ALI-Confcommercio) and Michela Addis (professor of Economics and business management at the University of Roma Tre), moderated by Alessandra Tedesco. A debate to explore the role of bookshops in the cultural and social growth of the territory and the new consumption habits of the younger generations. President Sergio Mattarella received the book on Anna Politkovskaya’s memory. President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella met with Vera Politkovskaya at the Quirinale on Friday 24 February. The daughter of Russian ‘Novaja Gazeta’ journalist Anna Politkovskaya, murdered in October 2006, presented President Mattarella with a copy of her book ‘A Mother. Anna Politkovskaya’s life and passion for truth’, published by Rizzoli. The meeting was also attended by representatives of our publishing house. “My mother has always been an uncomfortable person, not only for the Russian authorities, but also for ordinary people. She wrote the naked truth about soldiers, bandits and civilians who ended up in the meat grinder of war. He spoke of pain, blood, death, dismembered bodies and broken destinies.” The book, written with Sara Giudice and translated by Marco Clementi, is in bookshops now.
