Young Italians dream of working for us: the Mondadori Group is once again one of the most attractive companies according to the Universum award.

In the annual research “Most Attractive Employers Italy 2023”, carried out by the Swedish employer branding company Universum, our company was ranked first in the Humanities, Liberal Arts and Education category for both university students and young professionals. We are very proud that undergraduate and graduate students in the humanities continue to place the Mondadori Group at the top of their professional ambitions.

It is a result that rewards the path we have taken to increase the value of young talent by placing it at the heart of our company’s activities and processes. A constant work on people contributes to creating a more inclusive and innovative environment.

From 13 to 17 September, the 24th edition of Pordenonelegge, the “book festival with authors”, will be held in Pordenone. This year’s theme is lightness, represented by the two feathers chosen as the symbol of the event.

The Friulian city will turn yellow, the colour of the event, and come alive with authors, readers and writers who will take part in more than 300 events, including meetings, talks and presentations.

We will be present in Pordenone with our publishing houses. Here are all the events not to be missed: https://lnkd.in/e8v58M-8

What to read this summer? We recommend 40 of our books.

It is always difficult to decide what to read during the summer holidays. So we have put together this list of 40 titles recommended directly by our publishing houses.

From thrillers to historical novels, from non-fiction to biographies, from art to science fiction, and of course comics and books for girls and boys. We have tried to satisfy the tastes of all readers.

We believe it is essential to offer the best possible support to those in our Group who are becoming parents, and that is why we have launched the parenting project. This initiative is part of “Mondadori Care” – the programme that focuses on the concept of personal care in the broadest sense – and is designed to offer concrete help so that future mothers and fathers can experience such an important event as the birth of a daughter or son with serenity.

This is why we have created the Parental Kit, a set of initiatives and concrete tools that are available to everyone in our Group, providing useful information before, during and after the birth. A “toolbox” that was also developed thanks to a focus group activity involving several colleagues who had experienced a period of maternity or paternity leave. An important tool for better managing and planning this sensitive period of change in one’s personal and professional life.

Martina Donati will join the Mondadori Group on September 1, 2023, as Editorial Director of Italian and international fiction for Sperling & Kupfer, Piemme, Frassinelli and the Pickwick paperback brand. She will be part of the team led by Stefano Peccatori, CEO of Sperling & Kupfer, Piemme, Frassinelli, Mondadori Electa, Rizzoli Illustrati, and President & CEO of Rizzoli International Publications New York.

“I am honoured and happy with this assignment because of the welcome and trust I have received from Mondadori Group management, and particularly Stefano Peccatori. The goal is undoubtedly to make the most of the formidable authors the various brands already have in their catalogue, and to seek out and acquire new talents. The new generation of readers is formed of a target audience of young and very young people, and the publisher is doing its best to intercept them. These are readers who have put books and reading back in the forefront of discussion, thanks to social media. Our task is to continue responding to their tastes and giving them more and more opportunities to explore the stimulating world of quality writing.”

Born in Florence in 1967, Donati holds a law degree from La Sapienza University in Rome and has worked in the world of publishing for more than twenty-five years. She was Editorial Manager for Giunti and, in recent years, for Newton Compton, where she worked on scouting and launching Italian and foreign authors. She has also been involved in non-fiction and miscellaneous publications.

#NoiDellaMondadori

Over the past few weeks, colleagues from our Communication and Media Relations Department took turns to leave the Segrate offices for a few hours to experience a new job at the Mondadori Bookstore in Vimodrone. Guided by the store team, they spent two half days trying their hand at being a bookseller.

The initiative was more than just a training and team-building opportunity. It was an invaluable opportunity to get to know the dynamics of bookselling and customer relationship management: from pre-opening activities to the shop security checklist; from analysing the previous day’s results to defining the layout according to the criteria of product distribution; from the reception area with product loading and display to managing the space for new products and promotions; from managing the publisher’s circulation programme to returns.

An exciting and stimulating experience, conceived and developed also with a view to developing transversal skills. The exchange, much appreciated by all the participants, also served to raise awareness of the importance of the work carried out every day by Mondadori’s booksellers in our stores throughout Italy.

Special thanks to Mondadori Retail S.p.A. for supporting this initiative. In particular to Carmen De Cesare, manager of the Vimodrone bookstore, for guiding her colleagues in this new experience; Rino Evangelista, Mauro Magrì, Edoardo Muratore and Carmine Perna for supporting the idea and contributing to its realisation.

We wish to express our compassion and sympathy for our Chairman, Marina Berlusconi, demonstrating both visibly and symbolically the deep void left by the death of her father, Silvio, a crucial figure in the history of our company and our country.

That’s why the Mondadori Group has decided to leave Palazzo Niemeyer at “half-light” for the first time, leaving an entire part of the building entirely dark every evening this week.

A void, a lack of light that will also be accompanied by a minute of silence that we, #NoiDellaMondadori, will observe this afternoon coinciding with the beginning of the State funeral, to symbolically embrace Chairman Marina Berlusconi and all the family members who mourn the death of their beloved father.

Furthermore, today the Mondadori Duomo and Rizzoli Galleria bookshops in Milan will remain closed for the entire day. The main events in stores throughout the country will be suspended and a commemorative image of Silvio Berlusconi will be displayed.

What is parenthood for #NoiDellaMondadori?
Our new manifesto describes it as:
– a social multiplier of well-being
– a shared responsibility
– an opportunity for growth
– a challenge to reconcile personal and professional fulfilment
– a caring relationship free of stereotypes
– a free choice

We believe that parenthood is a social asset that should be valued, supported and encouraged. That is why we are committed to listening to and responding to the needs of everyone who chooses to have children, by launching a project and tools that enable our employees to reconcile their personal and professional aspirations. We are making this change to free parents from gender stereotypes and allow them to experience the birth and growth of their children with peace of mind.

We hosted at Palazzo Mondadori a new appointment of the “WeWelfare” initiative, the cycle of seminars organised by Assolombarda to encourage exchange and discussion between companies on the topic of #welfare. During the meeting Marcello Chierici, organisation and people development & HRIS director of the Mondadori Group, talked about the strategies and activities we promote to increase the well-being of our workers and their families. Together with him, Beatrice Carlorosi (Talent, learning and development director of NH Hotel Group), Marco Cariani (HR senior manager of LEO Pharma Manufacturing) and Ettore Jovinelli (HR business partner of Air France-KLM) also shared their experiences. “WeWelfare” has in fact the objective of developing welfare planning through the sharing and enhancement of good practices implemented by companies. In this way, a synergy was created to foster collaboration between large and small realities and to pool the various successful experiences. The round table was introduced by Federico Chiarini, coordinator of the Attractiveness Chain of Assolombarda, the network of companies and stakeholders involved in the enhancement and promotion of the territory. He was joined by Martina Bianco from the association’s Work, Welfare and Security area, who spoke about the benefits for the individual and the company, sources of funding, and goods and services that can be included. In the second photo, from left: Federico Chiarini, Beatrice Carlorosi, Lorena Gucciardo (Groups, small industry and young entrepreneurs group area of Assolombarda), Marco Cariani, Martina Bianco, Marcello Chierici, Ettore Jovinelli.
