According to Italian lecturers, what are the most relevant sustainability issues, considering the impacts generated by our Group in the ESG sphere? Nearly 5,000 teachers responded to us. We conducted a survey to collect the opinions of the teaching staff of primary and secondary schools in all regions of Italy. The survey is part of the “stakeholder engagement” activity that our company carries out every year for the Consolidated Non-financial Statement. It is an important moment of listening – also extended to other categories of stakeholders – to identify the priority ESG areas for our Group, on which we will continue to engage with determination and attention, with a view to continuous improvement. The survey highlights that the topics deemed as priorities by teachers are: 1. “Promotion of reading and sociocultural growth”; 2. “Promotion of Sustainable Development”; 3. “Education and the world of schools”; 4. “Diversity, equity and inclusion”; and 5. “Climate change and biodiversity.” The research also revealed which areas, according to the teachers, our Group should focus on in the short to medium term: these are Education for Sustainable Development and Promotion of Reading and Environmental Culture. On these areas we are already strongly engaged with our publishing houses with goals also defined within our Sustainability Plan but we will try to seize this additional stimulus.

We would like to introduce you to Mondadori Libri’s Trade Operations Department. We would like to introduce you to the team led by Filippo Guglielmone, which integrates key activities such as industrial purchasing, production, logistics and sales into a single process vision to promote the growth of our publishing houses. Two new appointments have been made in the Trade Operations Department over the past year. Miriam Spinnato assumed responsibility for the Digital sales trade function, in charge of managing activities related to e-books and audio projects (audio books and podcasts). Alberto Zangarini, on the other hand, was appointed Head of Group industrial procurement, a new structure whose objective is to ensure an effective and efficient procurement and purchasing process for raw materials and external processing. In the photo, from left: Matteo Piotto (Group Logistics), Filippo Guglielmone, Miriam Spinnato, Alberto Zangarini, Alessandra Lazzaroni (Management Assistant), Glauco Brambilla (Operations trade), Sara Parlavecchia (Sales development trade), Stefano Cerra (Customer Operations Management). The team was completed by Flavia Massaglia (Operational Planning) and Diego Cecchi (Large-Scale Retail Network).

Happy Birthday AdKaora: 10 years since #DigitalFighters. Our digital company specializing in proximity marketing celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Founded in 2013 and joining our Group in 2016, AdKaora has never stopped growing. From the inception of the Value Network to the entry of Hej! and Adgage, the agency has reached increasingly important milestones, coming to collaborate with more than 300 publishers and completing more than 1,500 innovative projects. AdKaora’s team has also grown: today there are more than 50 professionals who make up a close-knit and increasingly international group, with offices in Milan, Rome and Madrid. A successful path, built by offering brands and publishers innovative solutions to reach and engage their customers and stakeholders. But above all, by believing in the value of its people.

Creating value in the long term: this is what our role as a publisher requires, through an ever-increasing focus on defining strategies to achieve #sustainability goals, for the benefit and interest of all our stakeholders. This is why our Group has defined its first three-year Sustainability Plan in 2022: three ESG macro-areas of reference, eight strategic guidelines and short and medium-term quantitative and qualitative objectives/targets – in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development – aimed at continually improving performance in social, governance and environmental terms. Our story starts here, keep following us. #MondadoriSustainability

Reading, a good habit.

The Wom publishes its first book in the name of diversity and inclusion: ‘The Wom Power’. A guide to being yourself*, written to inspire and motivate anyone who wants to express themselves freely, going beyond prejudices and stereotypes. “The Wom Power” is organised into six chapters, each of which opens with a story written by a content creator from the #TheWomSquad: stories and testimonies that The Wom shares with its community every day to enhance the uniqueness of each person and promote the values of diversity and inclusion. The book, published by Mondadori Electa, was presented at the Rizzoli Galleria bookstore in Milan with a special event, during which Francesca Vecchioni, president of Diversity [diversitylab.it], Daniela Cerrato, marketing director of Mondadori Media, and Francesca Rigolio, chief diversity officer of our Group, spoke. Many people were present to listen to and meet Benedetta De Luca, Gender & Inclusion editor of The Wom, and the creators Barbara Conte, Elisabetta Rossi and Paola Torrente, who contributed to the realisation of the book.

A training day for new Mondadori Retail S.p.A. booksellers. We had the pleasure of hosting the new franchisees who have joined our network of bookshops in the auditorium of Palazzo Mondadori. Arriving from all over Italy, the booksellers enjoyed a day of training led by their colleagues from the Retail area. The store managers had the opportunity to get up to speed on the many aspects that characterise the activity of a bookshop today: from stock management to customer care, from the operation of the Aretè and Xpos management systems to the knowledge and application of marketing strategies, up to events, projects with schools and much more. Lots of training, yes, but it was also a perfect day to get to know each other, compare notes and understand what it means to be part of the great reality of the Mondadori Group. Again, welcome, and good work!

Happy Holidays from #NoiDellaMondadori. On the occasion of Christmas, our Group has decided to support PizzAut, a social inclusion project dedicated to young people with autism, and #AtelierDellaMente, an association supporting people with cognitive impairment and their families. By joining PizzAut’s #100mattoni campaign, we will contribute to the training of the young people who will work in the new restaurant that will open in Monza in 2023 and to the creation of a space where they can continue to experience their autonomy.

We have decided to be even closer and more attentive to the needs of those among our people whose economic situation is more exposed to cost-of-living increases and inflation, in a general context as difficult as the current one. We have done this by giving a contribution of €1,000 net in purchasing vouchers to all our employees with a gross salary of up to €35,000: an initiative that also represents a further thank you for the good results we have achieved together, shared by our CEO Antonio Porro with the chairman of the Mondadori Group, Marina Berlusconi. This concrete contribution, which is also the result of joint work with the trade unions, underlines how the wellbeing of our people is a fundamental value for us, as is also demonstrated by the many other welfare activities we have carried out in recent years. #NoiDellaMondadori Photo by Giuseppe Biancofiore / Mondadori Portfolio
