From September 23, 2025, to January 11, 2026, Palazzo Reale will host Appiani. Neoclassicism in Milan, an exhibition celebrating Andrea Appiani, a key figure in Milanese Neoclassicism and the “first painter” of Napoleon’s Kingdom of Italy.
With over 100 works from important Italian institutions and prestigious collections, the exhibition—curated by Francesco Leone, Fernando Mazzocca, and Domenico Piraina—showcases the artist’s refinement and expressive power and is accompanied by a catalog published by our publishing house Electa Editore.
The exhibition, promoted by the Municipality of Milan – Culture and produced by Palazzo Reale, Civita Mostre e Musei, Electa, and MondoMostre with the support of Fondazione Bracco and Biofer Spa, is part of the Milan Cortina 2026 Cultural Olympics program, reinforcing Milan’s role in the international dialogue between art and culture.
